Learn the basics
What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is the world's largest treasure hunting game. Over 3 million cleverly hidden containers called geocaches are hidden all over the world just waiting to be found.
What am I looking for?
Geocaches come in all shapes and sizes. The creativity of geocaches is endless. Some will be small tupperware containers, others will be micro containers the size of your fingernail. Make sure to read the size in your app to get on the right path. (Geocaches will never be buried).
Who hides geocaches?
People just like you! Geocaches are a labor of love. They are created by individuals in the global geocaching community.
When I find a geocache do I get to keep it?
No, geocaches are meant to remain hidden so that others can find them. When you find a geocache, sign the logbook, and put it back where you found it.
What’s inside a geocache?
What’s inside depends on many things but especially on the size of the geocache. In larger geocaches you can find SWAG items or trackables. If you take something, make sure to leave something of equal or greater value! Trackables are meant to move from geocache to geocache. Learn more here.
